Brisbane, Queensland's capital lays on a bay, but surfing on nearby Stradbroke Island's beaches can get good. Southwards again and stretching to the New South Wales are Queensland's world famous point breaks Kirra and Burleigh Heads on the Gold Coast and are best during the cyclone season, although you can get good waves throughout the year. The Noosa Heads area, on the Sunshine coast, offers the surfer some classic and consistent point breaks especially in the summer / autumn season. This where you will find some truly wonderful warm water and some excellent uncrowded surf in little known remote areas.
