How Does Home Exchange Work?
Home Exchange is when you stay in my house, and I stay in yours. The swap doesn't have to happen at the same time - you might prefer to stay at home when you're receiving your quest.
Why Do It?
It's free! It doesn't cost anything to join Glissers, and it doesn't cost you anything to do the swap. So your accommodation on your next surf trip can be 100% free.
Local knowledge. When you're traveling, it's useful to get to know the local spots from someone who knows them by heart. As a part of the home exchange, you also exchange experiences and knowledge.
How Do I Arrange It?
Just browse all home swaps on Glissers to find a place you're interested in. Send an email to the owner, with a link to your own place and profile on Glissers, and let them know you're interested. If they like your proposal too - bingo.
Do I Need to Have A Home Close to An Amazing Surf Break to Participate?
No, the important thing is that you're a surfer. The idea is to connect people with the same interest. There are surfers who rather swap home with someone close to a ski resort or wants to try the city life for a week.
But Is It Safe?
As long as you've got common sense, yes! This is how one of the bigger home Exchange sites describes it:
"In 14 years and tens of thousands of exchanges,weÍve never had a report of a theft, malicious vandalism, or a case of someone getting to their exchange home and finding a vacant lot.
Don't be worried about "Having a Stranger in Your House" . Think of home exchange as Internet Dating for your home. Before you would actually go on a date with someone you met on the internet, you would exchange some emails, talk on the phone a few times, and swap recent photos. By the time you agreed to meet, it wouldn't be with a "stranger". You wouldn't go on a date if you didn't feel a connection, and the same goes for a home exchange.
Good Communication Minimizes Misplaced Expectations. Ask questions about the home and area, make sure you see photos. Ask for referrals about prior exchanges.
Agree on the ground rules for your exchange. Sample Agreements are provided as guidelines"

What About My Privacy?
You don't have to publicize your email or other contact details, Glissers can handle the initial contact for you. Or use the guest book functionality to get in touch with the person you want to talk to.
How Much Does It Cost?
Nothing at all - Glissers is free to join :) If we need to make money one day, we're planning to do it through advertising. We don't think surfers should have to pay to use this kind of service.
