Hey Nils, Sorry it has taken me so long to get back to you about the comments you dropped on my blog. We had a great trip in Mexico/Guatemala and met many interesting people along the way.
As for accommodations, I’m afraid I’m hardly qualified to give out this information. We camped the entire trip. For 73 days, I think I stay in a hotel maybe 4 times, and those 4 times had nothing to do with surfing. We camped or slept in the car. Everywhere we camped was neither a recognized or sanctioned camp ground either haha. We just rolled up to little palapa restaurants and asked to camp there inside. They always said yes and hardly ever charged. We just ate and drank from their place out of respect.
I would love to fill in your map for Mexico trust me but I cant. On a sidenote, I would love to ask you something about your site and your mission. I personally believe, and I do work very very close with IT and tech, that the internet and sites like this are kind of destroying the spirit of adventure. I have nothing against it at all, but its just not my style. I would just drive to a surfspot, and find a place to camp before dark and thats pretty much it. Never had a plan or an idea. Anyways, hope you can gather the info you need, but dont loose the spirit of just getting out there and figuring it out once your there. To be forced to live in the “now” is the greatest thing in the world.
